According to The Kennel Club, in 2021 the Bloodhound had the lowest registered numbers out of all endangered breeds – only 19 new individuals registered! Of which a notable proportion are likely to be related brothers and sisters! Further reducing the genetic size of this breed.
These beautiful and friendly dogs have helped us all throughout history. Best known for an amazing sense of smell, these ‘sniffer dogs’ have nowadays aided authorities all over the world.
Did you know bloodhounds can follow a scent that’s up to 12 days old! They do however make terrible guard dogs as they just love the company of people!
