On September 14th, the Gemini Genetics team took a trip down to the Birmingham NEC to attend the Cat Show Live 2024. This event was a huge event for and by cat lovers – showcasing 175 cats from over 35 breeds. It also featured expert guest speakers on a variety of topics from health and nutrition, enrichment, grooming to a talk from a zookeeper for the Big Cat Sanctuary in Kent. The exposition centre had a cat village where all the 175 cats and their owners were meeting visitors, a retail avenue selling absolutely everything you could ever want or need for your cats, a “Hope Alley” that highlighted the work done by some dedicated charities working especially in rescuing and rehoming cats, and finally the “Theatre Square” where the guest speakers conducted their talks.

There were also judges from three major cat registries; GCCF, FIFe, TICA, present on site who hosted a non-competitive show with the pedigree cats present amongst the showcased pets. They gave visitors insights on cat shows and registries in the UK as well as providing lots of information on many of the different breeds present and some of their most defining characteristics.

The event was hosted by Iwan Thomas MBE, framing the talks given by the wide range of experts – and organized by Samantha Marsh and Peter Banbury, both seasoned professionals in the cat sector who pulled off an impressive feat gathering hundreds of cat lovers from far and wide across the UK.

The Gemini Genetics stand stayed busy all day and we gave away over 250 goody bags! It was a fantastic opportunity to meet so many people and be able to share more about what we do with hundreds of visitors.
We are very grateful to the organisers of the Cat Show Live for putting together this event and gathering of so many cat lovers – we are already looking forward to next year!
