Can You Clone My Dog From His Ashes?

can you clone my dog from his ashesUnfortunately, you can’t clone your dog from his or her ashes. To clone your dog, we need a skin sample, that has been kept cool after your dogs passing and arrives within 5 days of his/her death. Ashes are unsuitable for dog cloning as the DNA will be damaged. To clone your dog, we need a skin sample that has healthy, intact DNA. The skin sample for dog cloning only needs to be small. In a postmortem situation, the skin sample for cloning can be as small as a 1cm-by-1cm area of skin tissue from the ear of your dog.

If your dog passes away and you want to clone or preserve genetics, its really important their body is kept cool and not frozen. And the skin sample is collected ahead of cremation as ashes are unsuitable for the dog cloning process.
